Research interest


Being also a clinician in intensive care, I have always tried, as a scientist, to base my fundamental research on unresolved and important clinical issues.

After having studied lung injury and inflammation following mechanical ventilation, I have focused my research on lung infection. An unresolved issue in the area of lung infection is the factors that lead simple colonization to infection. The role of fungal colonization on bacterial pneumonia development is our present research.
