Research interest

My main research interest is the molecular epidemiology of bacteria involved in human infections. I worked on the genetic diversity of Staphylococcus aureus resistant or sensitive to methicillin and on bacteria responsible for nosocomial outbreaks. I am now focusing my research on clinical strains of Escherichia coli. The approach is to explore the implication of the genetic background in the acquisition of resistance to antibiotics such as extended spectrum beta-lactams and the relation between resistance and virulence.
